20 Jan Chi Kitchen – Authentic Thai + Innovative Twists
I had the pleasure to visit one of London best restaurants Chi Kitchen.
Chi Kitchen is a contemporary pan-Asian restaurant and is the first restaurant project from Masterchef 2014 winner Ping Coombes, located on the ground floor of Debenhams Oxford Street.
Chi Kitchen Oxford Street opened in November 2015, offering a varied all-day dining menu, designed to guide guests on a culinary journey through South East Asia. Dishes are served with modern presentation whilst maintaining authentic tastes with the freshest produce.
The space is designed to be welcoming and relaxed, and encompasses deep upholstered window booths, as well as a dining counter that doubles as a sushi bar and delivers freshly prepared sushi and sashimi. An open-plan robata grill is also a focal point, allowing guests a glimpse into the kitchen where the chefs display theatrical live cooking.
Ping works closely with the Chi Kitchen team, and has brought her unique style to the diverse menu, inspiring guests with her passion for the dishes she creates. Ping has developed Chi Kitchen’s offering of contemporary, colourful, and delicious menus influenced by Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean cuisine.
Ping’s signature dishes at Chi Kitchen include small plates such as Wagyu Beef puffs, served honey glazed with sesame seeds and Grilled Tiger Prawns with chilli lime and coriander sauce. Larger plates include Nyoknya Curry, a Malaysian curry served with potatoes, tomatoes and chilli and Thai Green Curry, served with aubergine and sweet basil leaves. For dessert, guests will be able to enjoy Mango Crème Brulee and Caramel Cheesecake.
Breakfast and brunch are also available, with the addition of Ping’s Roti with Condensed Milk, Malaysian bread served with condensed milk.
Chi Kitchen offers colourful, tasty and exotic food to the discerning customers of Debenhams.
